Our vision for the future is to improve and expand the existing programs
but also to add new ones. We are ready and eager to partner with other
organizations and NGO’s.
The
Savings Groups
Forming literacy – led savings groups for women is the core work of
the organization. Reaching a great number of women is our highest priority.
Hundreds of women are already familiar with existing women’s groups
and are ready to receive training and start their own.
With more funding, we plan to train leaders of established groups to
become local fieldworkers to meet the demand. We are currently working
in 20 different villages. But we could quickly expand our work beyond
neighboring villages into new communities through our contacts in Dalit
organizations.
Scholarship Programs
The women’s groups promote education of all children,
and are our strongest allies in convincing parents of the importance
of education. They are our partners in administering the scholarship
program locally, and encourage education of all children. With sufficient
funds, thousands of Dalit children could immediately benefit.
Regional Workshops
The regional workshops must become more frequent.
With better funding we will expand and improve the educational component,
and be more responsive to the women’s requests. A strong healthcare
component will be a priority-school program for young children teaching
discipline and socialization.
Other Ideas:
- Facilitating access to literacy material
- Creating a newsletter written by the women’s groups
- Enabling better training for village teachers
- Establishing an after-school program for young children
- Facilitating construction of dormatory for female Dalit strudents
